Holiday Cheer at the Capitol

The Official State Holiday Tree is lit and filling the Capitol Rotunda with the sights of the season.  The 25 foot tall tree spruce tree is decorated with ornaments representing all 93 of Nebraska’s counties.  The Capitol rotunda will be filled with holiday music over the noon hour on Tuesday December 16 and Wednesday December 17.  Local tuba musicians will perform holiday carols arranged especially for their instruments on Tuesday the 16th and on Wednesday the Husker Horns will perform traditional holiday music. Visitors will be able to view the holiday tree through December 28. The Capitol is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturdays and Holidays and from 1:00 to 5:00 pm on Sunday. Tours are offered hourly, except at noon, beginning at 9:00 am Monday – Friday, at 10:00 am on Saturday and holidays and at 1:00 am on Sunday.  The Capitol will be open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on Christmas Eve, the building will be closed on Christmas Day and the Capitol will be open holiday hours, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on December 26.
