Hurry while it lasts!

The time is right to view fall colors from the observation deck of the Nebraska State Capitol.  The Autumn Purple Ash trees flanking Goodhue Boulevard south of the Capitol are the annual harbinger of what will soon be a spectacular display of color and light.  From the top of the Capitol Lincoln’s community forest of oaks and maples are beginning their transition to fall colors.  Anyone wishing to enjoy the results of years of tree planting in the Prairie Capitol should plan to come to the Capitol and take an elevator ride up to 14th floor. Visitors will be treated to a beautiful fall display fanning out in all directions.  But hurry, the colors change daily and one good rain or wind storm could leave us waiting for next fall’s display.  The observation decks are open, weather permitting, during public building hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Saturdays and Holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. The two north elevators will take visitors to 14th floor and the observation decks.
