The purpose of this hearing is to receive comments on proposed changes to Title 180, Chapter 8 of the Nebraska Administrative Code (NAC) – Radiation Safety Requirements for Analytical X-Ray Equipment. The chapter outlines the safety requirements for persons using radiation generating equipment on materials in industrial and educational settings. The proposed changes rename the chapter to accurately reflect the types of equipment and uses covered in the regulation; transfer language governing the use of cabinet x-ray systems from 180 NAC 5 to this chapter; reduce interlock testing frequency for cabinet x-ray systems; remove all requirements for devices using radioactive material as the source of radiation; add safety requirements relating to open-beam hand-held radiation generating devices and use of fluoroscopes; and update formatting.
