The purpose of this hearing is to receive comments on proposed changes to Title 180, Chapter 7 of the Nebraska Administrative Code (NAC) – Medical Use of Radioactive Material. This chapter governs the production, preparation, compounding, and use of radioactive material in medicine. The proposed changes update definitions and reporting requirements for permanent implant brachytherapy; remove requirement for written attestation for an individual who is certified by a specialty board; re-recognize certification boards for individuals who began practicing prior to 2009; amend requirements for measuring molybdenum contamination; add new reporting requirement for failed technetium and rubidium generators; allow licensees to appoint a qualified individual to serve as assistant radiation safety officer on a license; and update formatting.
