The Lincoln Atheists and Omaha Humanists will have an educational display about the First Amendment freedoms that Veterans have fought and died to protect in the first floor rotunda November 5 - 12, 2023.

The State of Nebraska will be open at 10:00 a.m. for Veterans Day holiday hours on November 10. The Capitol's tower will be lit green on Saturday November 11 to honor veterans at the request of the Nebraska Department of Veterans Affairs.

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War Department of Nebraska and the Dakotas will gather at the Lincoln Monument on the West Plaza of the Capitol at 10:00 a.m. of Saturday November 18 to remember President Lincoln and read the Gettysburg Address.

The Center for Student Leadership and Expanded Learning of the Nebraska Department of Education will honor students from across Nebraska in a 2nd floor rotunda ceremony on Monday November 20 from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.

The Nebraska State Capitol will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday on November 23 and 24. The Capitol will be open for tours at 10:00 a.m. Saturday November 25.

The Epic Vocal Ensemble will perform a concert in the 2nd floor rotunda on Sunday December 3rd at 2:00 p.m.

On Sunday December 10, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Governor Jim Pillen and First Lady Suzanne Pillen will be in the 2nd floor rotunda of the Nebraska State Capitol to light the Official State Christmas tree. Wreaths Across Nebraska will present a wreath to Governor Pillen on Monday December 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the 2nd floor rotunda prior to laying wreaths on veteran's graves at Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln on December 19. This event is part of a nationwide program of wreaths for veterans during the holiday season.

The Chabad of Nebraska is sponsoring a Chanuka lighting ceremony in the 2nd floor rotunda on Tuesday December 12 at 11:00 a.m.
