Youth Mentoring Display
First Floor DisplayBig Brothers Big Sisters Lincoln will host organizations in Nebraska who provide mentoring opportunities in the first floor rotunda of the Capitol from August 30 - September 9, 2024. Tables will have handouts and give-a-ways to help visitors learn more about mentoring in Nebraska.
Wildfire Prevention Awareness Display
The Nebraska Forest Service will educate the public about the importance of wildfire prevention in Nebraska where 90% of wildfire are human caused. The September 10-23, 2024 display will have handouts and a life Smokey Bear in the first floor rotunda for taking selfies and promotion wildfire awareness.
Partnership for Your Success Signing Ceremony
2nd Floor RotundaRepresentatives from the Nebraska National Guard, the United States National Guard Command, the Department of Administrative Services and Governor Jim Pillen will sign a Memorandum of Understanding emphasizing and encouraging the hiring of military veterans as they transition to civilian life. Hunger Action Month
The tower of the Nebraska State Capitol will be lit orange on Friday September 13, 2024 at the request of the Food Banks of Lincoln and the Food Bank for the Heartland in recognition of Hunger Action Month.
New Attorney Swearing-In Ceremony
The Nebraska Supreme Court will swear-in new attorneys in a second floor rotunda ceremony on September 24, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Seating will be limited.
Nebraska Recovery Month Event
Capitol GroundsThe Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Division of Behavioral Health will hold an awareness event in the north steps of the Capitol, weather permitting, September 29, 2024 from noon to 5:00 p.m. The event will recognize recovery from mental health and substance abuse challenges.
Every Child Matters Walk
Capitol GroundsOn September 30 at 11:00 a.m., on Every Child Matters Day, the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska will hold a remembrance gathering on the north plaza of the Nebraska State Capitol and then walk around the Capitol to honor their indigenous ancestors forcibly removed from their homes and sent to boarding schools.
