Capitol Events

Capitol Concert Series

The Nebraska Music Education Association will host a noontime concert in the second floor rotunda of the Nebraska Capitol on February 4 to celebrate Arts and Culture Day in the Capitol. Two groups will perform, the first at 12:00 p.m. and the second at 12:30 p.m.

International Year of Rangelands Display

The Nebraska Section Society for Range Management will have a display in the first floor rotunda of the Nebraska State Capitol from February 9 - 20, 2026, to engage and educate  Nebraskans of the value of rangelands as an economic and natural resource base for Nebraska and the world.

Abraham Lincoln Honor Guard

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Department of Nebraska and the Dakotas, will hold a vigil at the Nebraska Capitol's Lincoln Monument on Thursday February 12, 2026 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to honor the anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth.

Expanded Learning Week

Beyond School bells will sponsor an Expanded Learning Opportunities Week display in the first floor rotunda of the Nebraska Capitol from February 16 - 20, 2026.

Omaha Youth Food Access Display

Voices for Children in Nebraska will display photos in the Nebraska Capitol first floor rotunda from February 16 - 20, 2026. The posters are part of a project on what food access looks like in parts of he Omaha community.

Suicide Prevention Advocacy Display

First Floor Display

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Nebraska Chapter will have a week-long display educating visitors on the services provided by the AFSP Nebraska Chapter. The display will include a memorial quilt.

Community College Week

First Floor Display

The Nebraska Community College Association will display banners in the first floor rotunda recognizing Nebraska's Community Colleges from February 23 - 27, 2026.

State Fair Art Awards

The Nebraskland Foundation will host State Fair Art Competition entries and present awards recognizing student achievement at a 1:30 p.m. ceremony in the 2nd floor rotunda of the Nebraska State Capitol.

Capitol Closed

The Capitol will be closed on Saturday February 28, 2026 for special Statehood Day activities.

Statehood Day

Nebraska was admitted to the United States of America as the 37th state on March 1, 1867. The Capitol will be open for guided tours from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.
