Gettysburg Address Commemoration

Capitol Grounds

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War Department of Nebraska and the Dakotas will gather at the Lincoln Monument on the West Plaza of the Capitol at 10:00 a.m. of Saturday November 18 to remember President Lincoln and read the Gettysburg Address.

Commissioner’s Recognition of Student Excellence

2nd Floor Rotunda

The Center for Student Leadership and Expanded Learning of the Nebraska Department of Education will honor students from across Nebraska in a 2nd floor rotunda ceremony on Monday November 20 from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.

Thanksgiving and Friday Capitol Closed

The Nebraska State Capitol will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday on November 23 and 24. The Capitol will be open for tours at 10:00 a.m. Saturday November 25.

Epic Vocal Ensemble Concert

The Epic Vocal Ensemble will perform a concert in the 2nd floor rotunda on Sunday December 3rd at 2:00 p.m.

Capitol Tree Lighting Ceremony

On Sunday December 10, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Governor Jim Pillen and First Lady Suzanne Pillen will be in the 2nd floor rotunda of the Nebraska State Capitol to light the Official State Christmas tree. Wreaths Across America

2nd Floor Rotunda

Wreaths Across Nebraska will present a wreath to Governor Pillen on Monday December 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the 2nd floor rotunda prior to laying wreaths on veteran's graves at Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln on December 19. This event is part of a nationwide program of wreaths for veterans during the holiday season.

Chanuka Menorah Lighting Celebration

The Chabad of Nebraska is sponsoring a Chanuka lighting ceremony in the 2nd floor rotunda on Tuesday December 12 at 11:00 a.m.

Holiday Tuba Concert

2nd Floor Rotunda

The University of Nebraska Tuba/Euphonium Studio will hold a holiday tuba concert in the 2nd floor rotunda at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday December 12.

Holiday Horns Concert

2nd Floor Rotunda

The University of Nebraska Husker Horn Choir will perform holiday music in the 2nd floor rotunda of the  Capitol on Wednesday December 13th at noon. Alan Mattingly, Professor and Chair of Music in the Glenn Korff School of Music, will lead the French Horns in this 45 minute holiday concert.

NSP Camp 68 Graduation

The Nebraska State Patrol will celebrate the graduation of Camp 68 at a 10:00 a.m. ceremony in the 2nd floor rotunda of the Capitol on Friday December, 15.
