UNL Out of Darkness Walk

The UNL Out of Darkness Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Nebraska will hold a UNL Out of Darkness Campus Walk on April 24 from 10:00 a.m. - Noon. The group will begin on campus, walk to the Capitol for a rally and return to campus.

Earth Day Strike

Embrace Nebraska will hold an Earth Day Strike on the North Plaza of the Capitol on April 22 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Project Animal Freedom will join their Vegan Climate March with the day's events.

Stuff the Truck

The Department of Administrative Services will hold a Food Bank event on the north side of the Capitol on Thursday April 21. Donations to the Food Bank can be made to "stuff the truck" between 11:00 a.m. to noon.

Dress in Blue for Colorectal Cancer Awareness Lighting

The tower of the Nebraska State Capitol will be lit blue on Friday March 4 for Colorectal Cancer Awareness Day. The sponsors of the lighting, the Nebraska Cancer Coalition will gather on the West Plaza at 7:00 p.m. for speakers from the medical professions and cancer survivors and conclude with a walk around the Capitol.

2021 Veterans Parade

The Lincoln Veterans Parade Group will hold the annual parade to honor Nebraska's veterans on Sunday November 7, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.  The parade will begin at 21st and and K Street and will move westward to the Capitol. There will a announcements and a program on the North Plaza during the parade.

Red Ribbon Week

The Drug Enforcement Administration - Omaha Division will raise awareness of the problems of drug use facing Nebraska communities with the Go Red for Red Ribbon drug-free life campaign kick-off with the Capitol tower being illuminated with red light.

Lincoln Walk to End Alzheimer’s Disease

The Alzheimer's Association Nebraska Chapter will have the Capitol tower illuminated in purple light to honor those affected and their caregivers the evening prior to the annual walk to end Alzheimer's disease.
