Capitol Christmas Tree Needed

It’s been a hot hot hot summer. Did thinking of the coming winter and snow make you feel cooler on those hot days? The Office of the Capitol Commission is thinking cool December thoughts — Christmas is coming and we need an Official State Christmas Tree. Ideally the official Capitol Christmas tree is 20 – 25’ tall with a maximum girth of 15’, depending on thickness and size of branches. Does anyone have a perfectly shaped evergreen tree, fir or spruce, that has outgrown its space and would like it to live on as the 2024 Official State Christmas Tree? If so, please contact Heather Dinslage, Groundskeeper Supervisor at 402-937-2891 or email heather.dinslage@nebraska.gov or call the Office of the Capitol Commission at 402-471-6691. If your tree is chosen our staff will cut the tree down for free, sorry no stump removal. Send a photo to Heather to help the process and the grounds crew will come and take a look at the tree to see if it meets our criteria, not too big and not too hard to get. Tree donors are recognized at the Capitol Tree Lighting Ceremony and it is a charitable donation for tax purposes. If you want to help spread the word, please post this flyer.
