The male Peregrine 19/K returned to the Nebraska State Capitol after 4 months of rehabilitation at the Fontenelle Forest Raptor Recovery Center. An unknown injury in June had broken a section of his wing. Recovered on the ground in Lincoln, he was moved to the Recovery Center for surgery and the slow rehabilitation process to strengthen his wing. Joel Jorgensen, Nebraska Game and Parks Non-Game Wildlife Biologist and Betsy Finch with the Recovery Center spoke to the audience assembled on the southeast lawn explaining the recovery process and then 19/K was escorted up to the top of the Capitol and released. He has been seen in his Capitol territory by many of his fans, and seems to be settling in well.
