The busts of William Jennings Bryan and J. Sterling Morton have joined most recent inductee Alvin Saunders Johnson in the Nebraska Hall of Fame. The two busts had been in residence outside the Capitol. Bryan’s bust had been located at Fairview, the home William Jennings Bryan built in what was then open land to the east of Lincoln. Bryan lived in the home from 1902-1914 when the family moved to Florida. Bryan deeded the home to the Methodist church for a hospital. The lower level houses a museum and the hospital uses the upper levels of the home for meetings and programs. The museum is opened for guided tours with 48 hour’s advance notice. Phone (402)481-3032 for more information and to schedule a tour. J. Sterling Morton’s bust had been on loan to the Arbor Day Foundation and was on display at the Lied Lodge and Conference Center. It has now returned to the Capitol. The bust is a copy of the Morton bust on display at Arbor Lodge, the home Morton built for his growing family. The three busts join the bust of Charles Bessey, a noted botanist and University of Nebraska professor in the southwest rotunda gallery. Nebraska’s Hall of Fame showcases Nebraskans who have served others and made contributions to the state and nation.[RoyalSlider Error] No post attachments found.
