The Nebraska Centennial Mall Cabinet will have a program in the Capitol’s 2nd floor rotunda at 8:30 a.m. on Statehood Day March 1, 2013 to provide an update on the renovation of Centennial Mall. Built in 1967 to commemorate the state’s 100th anniversary, Nebraska’s Centennial Mall is a major feature of downtown Lincoln, joining the State Capitol and the University of Nebraska. The program will include remarks from Lt. Governor LaVon Heidemann, Lincoln Mayor Chris Beutler, and Lincoln Parks and Recreation Director Lynn Johnson. The program will conclude with the Meadowlane Elementary School Chorus singing “Beautiful Nebraska” in honor of Statehood Day. More information about revitalizing Centennial Mall can be found on the Centennial Mall website.
