Lincoln’s urban forest is changing colors every day. The maples are brilliant red and the oaks are beginning to show their beautiful oranges and reds. No need to travel to New England to enjoy fall’s spectacular colors. Come to the Capitol and take quick and free trip to the 14th floor observation decks. Nebraska, the home of Arbor Day, has much to offer in the autumn. From the 14th floor one is reminded that trees not only provide oxygen and help stop wind and water driven soil erosion, they also offer beauty which everyone can enjoy. The observation decks are open weather permitting all the hours the Capitol is open to the public. But hurry, one good rain and wind storm and we’ll have to wait until next year to see Lincoln’s urban forest in all its colorful glory.
