  • Student Achievement Awards

    2nd Floor Rotunda

    Governor Pete Ricketts will recognize Nebraska's top scorers on the ACT and SAT college entrance exams in a second floor rotunda program with limited seating due to the pandemic.

    The Capitol will be open on July 3 and July 4 for tours from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. State offices will be closed in observance of the holiday on July 3.

  • Lights of Hope

    The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services will celebrate hope and life at dusk with the Capitol illuminated with purple light as a symbol of the importance of life and hope those facing substance abuse and its tragic consequences.

    The Capitol will be open for tours from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. State Offices will be closed.

  • Flags Lowered to Honor the Fallen

    The flags at the Capitol will fly at half-staff from September 8 - September 11 to honor fallen Lincoln Police Officer Mario Herrera. Flags flying at half-staff on Friday September 11, Patriot Day, will also honor the victims of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks.

  • Four Winds Working in Harmony Ceremony

    Capitol Grounds

    The Cante Tenza Okolakiciye (Strong Heart Warrior Society) will meet on the north plaza Saturday September 12, 2020 from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. to walk around the Capitol to the four directions to show solidarity and gather on the steps for a program.

  • CAPITOL CLOSED

    The Capitol will be closed on Saturday September 19, 2020 for building-wide equipment maintenance. The Capitol will reopen for tours on Sunday September 20 at 1:00 p.m.

  • Economics in Action

    Capitol Grounds

    There will be educational discussions by UNL and Union College professors and students on the economic achievements of Labor Day and economic development on the north plaza Saturday September 26, 2020 from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m.

  • Gold Star Families Day

    The Capitol will be lit gold to honor those who have had family members killed in action while serving in the Armed Forces.
