The number one complaint heard around the Capitol about Nebraska’s new license plate design is it’s too light to see clearly. The new plate design chosen by First Lady Susanne Shore showcases Hildreth Meiere’s black and white Genius of Creative Energy floor mosaic, and should be recognizable to anyone who has taken a tour of Nebraska’s Capitol. But to the motorist on the road, the plate’s true purpose–numerical identification of a vehicle–obscures the artwork. Fortunately for those who wish to showcase the Genius of Creative Energy and educate the motoring public on the Capitol’s artwork, the Office of the Capitol Commission has an assortment of Creative Energy t-shirts available.
