Star City Pride Parade

Capitol Grounds

Star City Pride will hold a parade on the streets surrounding the Nebraska State Capitol on Saturday June 18 beginning at 9:30 a.m. There will be speakers on the north plaza of the Capitol and the parade will conclude at noon. Streets around the Capitol will be closed during the parade.

Juneteenth Holiday

The Capitol will be open for holiday hours on Monday June 20 from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. State offices will be closed in observance of the federal Juneteenth holiday.

Celebrating Religious Freedom

The Lincoln Atheists will have a first floor rotunda display celebrating religious freedom as outlined in the First Amendment to the United States Constitution from July 1 - 8, 2022.

Independence Day

The Capitol will be open holiday hours from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on July 4 in celebration of Independence Day.

50 Mile March

Guitars for Veterans and Moving Veterans Forward are sponsoring an event on the North Plaza of the Capitol at noon on Saturday August 20, 2022. At 5:00 p.m. participants will begin their walk to Omaha to draw attention to homelessness and mental health issues in the veteran's community.

Lights of Hope

The tower of the Capitol will be illuminated with purple light on Wednesday August 31 in conjunction with a Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services program on the north plaza of the Capitol to acknowledge those who have suffered overdose deaths. The program on the plaza will begin at 5:00 p.m. or at dusk.

NARD 50th Anniversary Tree Planting

Labor Day Holiday

The Capitol will be open for public tours on Labor Day September 5 from 10:00 - 5:00 p.m., state offices will be closed.

911 Remembrance Ceremony

Lincoln Fire and Rescue will remember the firefighters and first responders who perished in the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center with a solemn ceremony on the north plaza of the Nebraska State Capitol at 8:30 a.m. The public is invited to attend the remembrance.
