Arts in the Capitol

March brings much celebration to the Nebraska State Capitol. Not only does Nebraska have a birthday to celebrate on March 1st, but March is the month when the Capitol hosts celebrations recognizing Nebraska’s young artists.
The Nebraska Music Educators Association hosts noon time concerts in the 2nd floor rotunda showcasing the musical talent in schools across the state. Each day from March 4 - 8 at 12:00 p.m. and at 12:30 p.m. choirs and bands will perform.  The concerts are open to the public and everyone can enjoy the sound of young voices and young musicians echoing through the Capitol’s beautiful limestone and marble halls.

This week the beautiful music of Nebraska’s youth can be enjoyed by those coming over their lunch hour to see the annual Youth Art Month display on ground floor of the Capitol. The display will be up from March 4 - 16. The Nebraska Art Teachers Association displays art chosen by art teachers across the state to represent their school. Then on March 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in second floor rotunda the Youth Art Month Awards are held. The artists whose creative efforts will go on to Washington D.C. will be announced and all the artists will be recognized.

Everyone is encouraged to come visit the Capitol to enjoy the musicians and artists who help to make Nebraska’s Good Life better. The concerts and the art display are free and open to the public.
